🏡Things To Know Before You Go
How does weekend pricing work?
All pricing includes meals. Food is included in your stay plus all amenities besides for horseback riding, which is not included. Each room price listed online includes accommodations for two adults. Additional guests are priced as follows:
- Ages 0–2: Free
- Ages 3–5: $75 per child per day
- Ages 6-12: $90 per child per day
- Ages 13 and above: $250 per person per day
What is included in the weekday room rate?
All Meals and activities are included with your weekday room rate besides for horseback riding, which is an additional add-on.
What does a daily schedule look like?
You can take a look at a sample daily schedule here
Do I need a reservation for the restaurant?
If you are not staying onsite yes reservations are required for the restaurant.
How does weekday pricing work?
Weekday stays (Sunday through Thursday are priced differently from weekends but still include Meals and Activities.
Are there age requirements for the adventure course?
Yes. Guests must be 10 years old or older to participate in the ropes/adventure course.
Is there an age requirement for the kayaks and boating?
No, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Do all activities need to be pre-booked?
No. The only activity that needs to be pre-booked is horseback riding, which can be added to your reservation to ensure a spot.
The ropes course operates during specific hours each day, and guests will receive those details upon arrival at the resort.
How many rooms are your cabins and rooms?
All of our cabins and rooms are one-room accommodations with different bed configurations. For example, our Elk Run cabins, Bear Hollow cabins, and Eagle Point cabins all include two full beds and a bunk bed.
Do you have adjoining rooms?
Yes. Our Elk Run cabins have adjoining rooms, and some of our Wagon Wheel cabins, Deer Leap rooms, and Lazy River rooms also offer adjoining accommodations.
How are the cabins?
All of our cabins are beautifully maintained, clean, comfortable, and well kept. Some cabins are more updated than others, with our Elk Run cabins being our newest accommodations. However, all cabins are maintained to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
What is your cancellation policy?
If the guest needs to cancel their reservation, in the unlikely event that you must cancel, all cancellations are treated as follows: A $150 cancellation fee will apply to all cancellations. 30 or more days prior to your arrival, 100% of the deposit will be refunded minus the $150 cancellation fee. Less than 30 days prior to arrival, the entire balance of the deposit will be forfeited.
Do you have a property map?
Absolutely! Guests receive a property map, welcome letter, and daily activity schedule upon arrival at check-in.
What amenities are included in the rooms?
Every room includes a mini fridge, hair dryer, Beekman shampoo, conditioner & body soap, towels, fresh linens, heat, A/C, wifi, TV, private bathrooms.
Is barbecuing allowed on property?
No. Barbecuing is not allowed anywhere on the property.
Are there separate pool hours?
Yes. We have separate pool hours in the morning and evening. Please refer to the posted pool schedule for current hours.
Do you have a minyan daily?
Yes. We have a minyan daily during the summer months of July and August. Please reach out regarding June and September.
Do you have a shul?
Yes, we do.
Do you have a men's mikvah?
Yes, we do.
Is your ranch open only to Jews?
Absolutely not. Everybody is welcome, and everyone is welcome to come join us at our ranch.
Is your restaurant open to the public?
Yes, it is. Please call before you come to make a reservation.
Are pets allowed?
Yes! Pets are welcome for an additional $30 per pet, per night. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required. Pets must be leashed outdoors and are not permitted in the Dining Room or Saloon unless they are certified service animals (emotional support animals are not permitted indoors).
Is 1000 Acres more family-friendly or adult-focused?
1000 Acres is designed to welcome everyone! Families love the horseback rides, pools, tubing, and kids’ activities, while couples and adult groups enjoy the peaceful setting, live music at the Red Dog Saloon, and outdoor adventures. Whether you’re bringing the kids, gathering a group of friends, or sneaking away for a couple’s retreat, there’s something for everyone here.

Are laundry facilities available?
Yes guest laundry is available onsite.
What types of accommodations are available?
We offer 69 total accommodations, including 22 cozy cabins and 47 guest rooms. Some have private porches overlooking the Hudson River, while others are closer to the heart of the ranch.
Do accommodations have heat, AC, and private bathrooms?
Yes! Every unit includes heat, air conditioning, and a private bathroom for your comfort
Are there accessible accommodations?
Yes. We offer four handicap-accessible units: Buena Vista 20, Deer Leap 58, Elk Run 32, and Elk Run 33.
Do guests need to bring their own linens or towels?
No. All linens, bath towels, and small pool towels are provided. Guests who prefer large beach towels should bring them along.
Are all accommodations cabin-style?
Not all! Some rooms are located in historic two-story ranch houses with that classic ranch charm.
Is there Wi-Fi in the accommodations?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available throughout the ranch. However, due to our rural location, connectivity may occasionally be limited.
Are refrigerators or microwaves available in the rooms?
Every room includes a mini fridge, and guests are welcome to use a Betty Crocker in their room as well.
Is smoking allowed in the rooms or cabins?
No, all accommodations and indoor areas are smoke-free. Designated smoking areas are available outdoors.
Are rollaway beds or cribs available?
Rollaway beds are not available. Pack N Plays are available for $10/day.

We are currently open from May through November.
Is there a minimum length of stay?
Typically, a two-night minimum is required. Select dates may offer one-night stays.
Do you offer day rates without the all-inclusive package?
Yes! On select dates, we offer room-only rates (lodging without meals or activities). Please inquire for details and availability.
Are there special weekends or annual events?
Yes! Join us for ATV weekends, Line Dancing weekends, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, and other special events.
Do you offer loyalty rewards or rebooking incentives?
Yes! Rebook your same room for next season at this year’s rate with a $150 deposit at checkout. Plus, book a second stay in the same season and receive a 15% discount!

🎮 Guest Experience & Flow
How does check-in work?
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM at the Reservation Office. When you arrive, you’ll complete your property waivers, settle any remaining balances, and receive your welcome packet, property map, daily schedules, and activity information. If you arrive early, you’re welcome to enjoy the ranch while your room is being prepared — and luggage storage is available.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is at 11:00 AM. If you’d like to enjoy the ranch a little longer after checking out, we’re happy to store your luggage while you explore or relax.
Is early check-in or late check-out available?
Yes — based on availability. Please inquire close to your arrival or departure.
Can we arrive early and start using the amenities?
Yes! Feel free to explore the property or grab a bite at the Saloon while you wait for your room.
Is luggage storage available?
Yes, luggage storage is available if you arrive early or would like to stay and enjoy the ranch after check-out.
Do you offer late-night activities?
Yes! Evening entertainment includes live music, open-mic nights, line dancing, and bonfires under the stars.
Is there a dress code for meals or activities?
Casual, comfortable attire is encouraged. Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required for riding and adventure activities.
What should we pack?
Layers for cool nights, comfortable clothes, swimsuits, sunscreen, bug spray, and a cozy sweatshirt or jacket. A full packing list will be emailed prior to arrival.
Can guests request specific activities or experiences in advance?
Yes — while horseback riding slots are assigned, feel free to call ahead for premium rides or special activity requests.
Are there quiet hours?
Yes, quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM to ensure a relaxing atmosphere for all guests.
🍽️ Dining at 1000 Acres
What is the dining experience like at 1000 Acres?
Our guests enjoy hearty, delicious meals that capture the spirit of the ranch. Stays include three meals a day, featuring a mix of to-order service and buffet-style options depending on the season and the number of guests onsite.
What time are meals served?
- Buffet Breakfast: 8:30 AM – 10 AM
- Ala Carte Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
- Buffett Dinner: 6:00 PM-7:30pm
How are meals served — buffet, plated, or family-style?
- Breakfast is buffet, lunch is typically to order with options to customize your plate. Dinner is buffet-style.
Are snacks and drinks included?
Non-alcoholic beverages like water, tea, and soft drinks are included during meal times. Outside of meal hours, snacks and drinks are available for purchase at our onsite Mercantile Gift Shop.
Are alcoholic beverages included with the all-inclusive package?
Kiddush wine is included in the weekend Shavous pricing. Alcohol is not included at any other time, however, we do have a full service cash bar on site.
Is there a bar onsite?
Yes! The Red Dog Saloon is open most evenings for drinks, entertainment, and socializing.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies?
Absolutely! We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and most common allergies. Please let us know your dietary needs when you complete your pre-arrival forms so we can prepare for your stay.
Is there a kids' menu available?
While we don’t offer a traditional printed kids’ menu, our chefs can prepare kid-friendly favorites like chicken tenders, pasta, hotdogs, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Please ask your server if you have young ones with special meal preferences!
Can I bring my own alcohol?
At this time, all alcohol must be purchased on site.
Do you offer takeout or to-go meals?
Yes, take out is availabe.
Is dining open to the public?
Yes, our restaurant is open to the public. Please call before you come to make a reservation.
Do you offer special dining experiences for holidays or events?
Yes! We offer special meals for holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, as well as BBQ nights, holiday buffets, and themed weekends throughout the season.
🐎 Horseback Riding at 1000 Acres
How does horseback riding work at 1000 Acres?
Horseback riding is one of our signature experiences! Each trail ride is staff-guided, with a wrangler leading the group and additional wranglers spaced throughout the line for safety. Horses follow a nose-to-tail formation along scenic mountain, river, and forest trails.
Is horseback riding included in my stay?
No, horseback riding is an add on activity. If you purchase the riding package at the time of your reservation, horseback ridging is $65 per person. If you purchase after that or while at the ranch horseback riding is $75 per person per hour.
Are the rides staff-guided?
Yes — all trail rides are guided by our experienced barn staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience
Are there rides for different skill levels?
Yes!
- Beginner Walk Rides: Perfect for first-timers and casual riders.
- Intermediate Trot Rides: For those with some riding experience.
- Advanced Lope Rides: For experienced riders only (must pass a barn assessment).
Is there an age or height requirement?
Yes:
- Riders must be at least 7 years old and at least 48 inches tall for trail rides.
- Younger children can enjoy barnyard rides (hand-led rides at the barn).
Is there a weight limit for riding?
We have a 240-pound weight limit for horseback riding to ensure the safety of both horse and rider. However, exceptions may be made for experienced riders with proportionate height and weight, at the discretion of the barn manager.
Do riders have to pass an assessment?
Yes — for anything more advanced than a walk ride (such as trotting or loping), a riding assessment is required to confirm safety and skill level.
What upgraded horseback riding experiences are available?
We offer several premium experiences for an additional fee:
- Picnic Ride: 2-hour ride with a 30-minute stopover for lunch in the mountains.
- River Crossing Ride: 3-hour advanced ride (ages 16+ only; experienced riders).
- Extended Trail Ride: 2-hour scenic adventure ride.
Can guests bring their own horses?
Not at this time — we currently provide all horses for trail rides and activities.
Do you provide helmets for riding?
Yes! Helmets are provided and must be worn by all riders under the age of 18. Helmets are optional for adults but highly recommended.
What should I wear for horseback riding?
We recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes or boots. No sandals or open-toe shoes are allowed on rides. It’s also a good idea to bring a jacket for cooler days
Can beginners go on trail rides?
Absolutely! We welcome riders of all skill levels. Our beginner walk rides are perfect for first-time riders or those wanting a relaxed trail experience.
What happens if bad weather affects rides?
Horseback riding may be postponed or canceled in cases of thunder, lightning, dangerously high winds, extreme heat, or cold temperatures. Safety is always our top priority
How are riding schedules handled?
Riding schedules are posted nightly at dinner for the following day. Riders are prescheduled based on skill level and availability.

All activities are included except horseback riding. Horseback riding can be purchased at the front desk and must be scheduled.
Are there any guided activities?
Yes! Horseback rides are guided, and many special events like pool tournaments, line dancing, and open-mic nights are hosted by our team.
Are there additional fees for any activities?
Most activities are included. Optional premium experiences, such as extended horseback rides or upgraded river adventures, have an additional fee.
Do you offer child care or supervised kids’ programs?
While we offer plenty of activities that kids will love, we do not currently offer formal childcare or supervised kids’ camps.
Is there evening entertainment?
Yes! Enjoy live music, open-mic nights, line dancing, and bonfires under the stars throughout the week.
Can day visitors join activities?
Some activities — like horseback riding — are available to the public by reservation. We have a pool and amenity use Day pass for $60 per Adult and $50 per child. There are times amenities, like pools, tubing, and evening entertainment, are reserved for overnight guests. Please call for availability.

Can guests use the Hudson River?
Yes! Guests can kayak, tube, and fish along our beautiful stretch of the Hudson River. Tubing is one of our most popular activities, with two ways to float:
Short Lazy River Float: Relax and float from one end of the ranch beach to the other, about a 20-minute loop.
Extended Adventure Float: For a longer experience, guests can drive about 5 minutes upriver and enjoy a close to 2-hour float all the way back down to the ranch — a scenic and peaceful ride through the Adirondack wilderness!
Are pool, hot tub, and river activities included with my stay?
Yes! Access to all pools, the indoor hot tub, the river beach, kayaking, and tubing (weather permitting) are included in your stay.
Do you offer equipment rentals for river activities?
Yes! Kayaks, tubes, paddles, and life jackets are available at no extra charge for overnight guests
Do guests need to sign up for water activities in advance?
No signup is needed! Kayaks, tubes, pools, and the hot tub are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Are there lifeguards at the pools or river?
No. Swimming and river activities are at your own risk. We strongly recommend that children are supervised by an adult at all times and that life jackets are worn when tubing or kayaking.
Are pools, the hot tub, and river amenities available year-round?
The indoor heated pool and hot tub are available during our operating season (May–November), although availability may vary based on weather and maintenance needs.
Outdoor pools and river activities are typically available mid summer through early fall.

Can weather affect water activities?

🚜 UTV & ATV Operations at 1000 Acres
Do you offer UTV/ATV riding at the ranch?
Yes, but only on designated weekends. ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides are permitted during special event weekends when the trails are open exclusively for off-road use.

Can I bring my own ATV or UTV?
Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own ATV, UTV, or side-by-side. Proof of insurance must be provided at check-in.
What types of vehicles are allowed?
Only ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides are permitted on the trails. Larger vehicles such as Jeeps and trucks are not allowed on the trail system. If you’re unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, please contact our office for confirmation before bringing it to the ranch.
Are UTV/ATV rides guided or self-guided?
Rides are self-guided along designated trails. Trail maps and safety rules are provided to registered riders at check-in.
Are there specific trails for ATV/UTV use?
Yes. Off-road vehicles must stay on designated trails. During ATV weekends, we organize activities to ensure motorized use and horseback riding remain safely separated.
Are there safety protocols or age restrictions?
Yes:
- All riders must sign a waiver before participating.
- Helmets are strongly encouraged.
- Only licensed drivers may operate UTVs or ATVs on the property.
- Speed limits and posted trail rules must be followed at all times.
Will rentals be available in the future?
Yes! 1000 Acres is in the process of purchasing a fleet of vehicles that will be available for guest rentals. More information will be announced soon — check back for updates!
Can day visitors participate in ATV weekends?

Yes! While most amenities are reserved for overnight guests, we offer select activities and events that are open to the public — a great way to experience a little slice of ranch life even if you’re not staying overnight.
What activities are open to the public?
Horseback Trail Rides: Public trail rides are available by reservation.
- $75 for a one-hour trail ride (ages 7+)
- $20 barnyard rides for children 7 and under
How do I book a horseback ride if I'm not staying overnight?
You can call our Reservation Office directly to book your public trail ride. We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance to guarantee availability.
How do I find out about public events at 1000 Acres?

Is there a menu available for the Red Dog Saloon?
The Saloon offers a limited bar menu for drinks and light bites when open to the public. Full meal service is reserved for overnight guests. (Expanded food offerings coming soon!)
Are reservations required for public activities?
